LeBron just disappeared. Is he a magician or just another MJ wannabe? DeShawn Stevenson called him out like no other saying he "checked out" of Game 4 last night. The Mavericks won 86-83 to even the best of 7 series at 2 games a piece. Dirk Nowitzki was fighting a 101 degree fever and obviously was not at his best health wise but when crunch time came, Dirk buckled down and contributed exactly what the Mavs needed, scoring 10 of his 21 points in the 4th quarter. Tyson Chandler also showed up big time for the first time in the series, contributing 13 points and 16 rebounds. The was so bad for LeBron that even the offensively challenged Stevenson outscored him 13-8. Wade and Bosh did their parts scoring 32 and 24 respectively but James was floating through the game, giving us a line we would expect from Jason Kidd, 8 points, 9 rebounds, 7 assists and 2 steals. Since the NBA implements a 2-3-2 best of 7 series in the NBA Finals, Game 5 is in Dallas Thursday night at 9pm on ABC.
Tuesday's MLB games were headlined by David Ortiz's important home run at Yankee Stadium and accompanying it with a very message filled bat flip. Luckily for the Red Sox Ortiz hit the 2 run HR in the 5th because after chasing Freddy Garcia early they floundered chances and almost blew their lead, holding on to win 6-4. Carlos Carrasco out-dueled fresh off the DL Francisco Liriano in a battle of attrition at Progressive Field, as the Indians won 1-0. Carrasco went 8.1 innings allowing 3 hits, 1 walk and struck out 6 to improve to 5-3 on the year. Pitchers duels were the theme of the night as Tommy Hanson led the Braves to a 1-0 win over the Marlins, Chris Capuano turned back the clocks and helped the Mets beat the Brewers 2-1, Ubaldo Jimenez was good, but not good enough to win as Tim Stauffer stifled the Rockies as the Padres won 2-0 and lastly, Jordan Zimmermann did it with his arm and bat leading the Nationals to a 2-1 win over the Giants and Jonathan Sanchez. But for you fans who love offense, Rangers Ballpark in Arlington always seems to be the place to be. This time it was the visitors who exploded, as the home folk saw Rick Porcello dominate them and the Tigers offense pounded out 20 hits to win 8-1.
Biggest Winner of the Night: I wanted to give this to Dirk but I think the Biggest Loser of the Night overshadows this, so I'll give it to Carlos Carrasco who threw 1 of the 4 shutouts in baseball last night lasting into the 9th inning dominating the Twins lackluster bats. His line was posted above.
Biggest Loser of the Night: This HAS to be LeBron James, it was one of the biggest chokes in the NBA Finals History as he scored just 8 points on 3 of 11 shooting from the field and 2 of 4 from the free throw line while missing all 3 of his three point attempts. He did chip in 9 rebounds, 3 offensive, as well as 7 assists but also turned the ball over 4 times and had a +/- of -6 while he was on the floor. Adding to insult he was called out by the ever annoying DeShawn Stevenson, so lookout for Game 5 to be LeBron's night but after that showing, who knows what LeBron will show up at any time.
