Appoligies, but I am Finally Moved In

So I am all moved in to my new home now in Maine, it took a while but I finally have some time to sit down and write about sports rather than apply for 50 jobs around town. The Finals finished just as I thought... Mavs in 6, so glad one of my predictions finally worked out! Dirk was simply fantastic and a pleasure to watch play the game of basketball. He fully deserved Finals MVP honors, and really, who else was close to deserving it? No one was as consistent as Nowitzki in any playoff series let alone the Finals. I'm sure every single sports writer and tweeter has beaten this to death so I won't go into the specifics but has anyone choke more in the 4th quarter or last period of any sport as much as LeBron James did in this Finals? I loved this tweet from NFL player Damien Woody- "Never ask LeBron to break a dollar, he won't give you the 4th quarter." Enough said right there. I like how even though the Heat lost this year they are the early favorites to win it all next year at 5-1 odds.

But enough about the NBA for a few weeks, or at least until the draft. The Boston Bruins just will not go away and continue the trend of winning at home as all 6 games have seen the home team come out on top. The Bruins shellacked Roberto Luongo and the Canucks 5-2 by scoring the fastest 4 goals in NHL Finals history and chased Luongo for the 2nd time in the series after he allowed 3 goals on 8 shots. Tim Thomas I'm sure was very very pleased with that outcome in particular after the media attack Luongo had started about Thomas' goaltending style. As a fan of the game, particularly the playoffs, this could not have played out any better, Game 7, Wednesday night, 8pm EST in Vancouver, British Columbia on NBC. This is a MUST see for everyone, even people who are not fans of hockey because the tension will be high, the atmosphere electric and the game will sure not disappoint. I won't predict, since I am rooting for the Bruins but more importantly, I am rooting for one whale of a hockey game.

MLB has stayed very very busy and while I haven't had time to watch much besides a few innings of another Red Sox beat down of the Jays, I have followed my fantasy team. Is anyone hotter and better than Adrian Gonzalez? The guy is an RBI machine, now at 60 entering tonight's game in Tampa Bay and is hitting an AL best .341 passing Jose Bautista. He now leads 2 of the 3 triple crown categories but is far behind in home runs as he only has 13 which is 8 behind Bautista. And to go with Gonzalez being hot, Ellsbury (AL player of the week) helped lead the Red Sox to 9 consecutive wins and a 2.5 game lead over the Yankees. The most interesting baseball story of the week has to be put on the shelf for at least 2 weeks, as Derek Jeter pulled a calf muscle only 6 hits shy of 3000 career hits. How are my NY Mets not worse than 32-34? This is a great question, they have no pitching stars, sure Jonathon Niese and Dillon Gee have been nice surprises and certainly capable but are no studs. Pelfrey is always a disappointment, R.A. Dickey can't catch lightning in a bottle twice and Chris Young blew out his shoulder once again. Add that to Johan Santana being out until mid-July and you are looking at just an awful group of starters in front of one of the leagues worst bullpens (save K-Rod). Add that to a lineup full of injuries and disappointments, David Wright fractured back, Angel Pagan missed a month, and Jason Bay has been one of the worst signings since, well the Mets signed Oliver Perez for a multi-year deal. Jose Reyes has been phenomenal and I just hope the Mets aren't broke or stupid enough to not sign him or at least trade him for major prospects.

Biggest Winner of the Past Week: Dallas Mavericks- they won their first ever championship and Mark Cuban left a $20,000 tip at a Miami Club and slept with the trophy... can it get any better than that?

Biggest Loser of the Past Week: Easy LeBron James- Disappeared in crunch time continuously and showed us that he is absolutely no Michael Jordan, and is just a physical specimen and a glorified Scottie Pippen at the most. And this makes me oh so happy. Suck it LeBron! (Hey that was my friend Pete's Fantasy Basketball teams name!)
