Inaugural Post and Celebrating Dirk Nowitzki's Climb to Prominence

So I finally decided to start writing a sports blog. I have been contemplating if for a long time and tried unsuccessfully with a friend once or twice before. I had a semi-conscious stream of brilliance the other night, now who knows if it really was brilliant but I had great ideas for a sports blog and didn't write them down when I should have. I promise not to try and recreate that magical evening in my bed but I promise my opinions will be biased and many times very similar to Tommy Heinsohn's calling of a Celtics game (By being a complete homer if you didn't get that reference). My many years of watching sports and religiously following fantasy teams has created a fanatic and to be honest, sports has taken over most of my brainpower. But if you asked me who are the only 3 current shortstops who have had a season where they hit 30 HRs and stole 20 bases, I would be able to tell you they are Troy Tulowitzki, Jimmy Rollins and Hanley Ramirez. Useless information like this is why you should continue to come back and read my blog on a daily basis. Now life sometimes gets in the way of sports but I hope to write a short post every day.

Since I started this post with a rationale to why I am writing it and why you should read it, the only thing left to do is talk about sports. The top story is easily the historical comeback by Dirk Nowitzki and the Dallas Mavericks late last night. Down 15 with 5 minutes to play everyone assumed Durant and the Thunder would tie up the series and send it back to Dallas as a best two out of three for the right to go to the NBA Finals. But Dirk put the Mavs on his back like he has done so many times before but no one had noticed besides the choke in the 2006 NBA Finals vs. Shaq, Wade and the Heat. Dirk has had two 40 point games in this series alone and makes more off-balance, fall-away, one-footed shots than anyone I have ever seen. Not only has he cemented the title of the games best European player ever, he has elevated his game to a first ballot hall of fame status and could possibly be in the top 10 with the likes of Jordan, Kareem, Bird and Magic. Game 5 back in Dallas should be a spectacle as the veteran Mavericks do not want to go back to Oklahoma City again and you can count on Dirk to once again provide the heroics as I predict Dallas wins 103-97 as Dirk score 36 in the clincher.

Tonight we shift our focus to Miami and the "Heatles", as they lead the Chicago Bulls 2-1 and look to take the same control Dallas has by jumping to a commanding 3-1 series lead heading the series back to the Windy City. Wade and James have been good but not great so far as Chris Bosh has come out of nowhere to be the star of the series for the Heat so far. I myself have criticized Bosh many a times for being soft and not a superstar but he sure has come to play vs. Boozer and Noah. I still won't anoint him a superstar but he has come out of the doghouse and is working his way up to the penthouse very quickly. The Bulls really need to give Derrick Rose some help but with Noah more interested in screaming vulgarities at fans and Boozer no where to be seen it seems very unlikely for them to make this a series. Prediction- Heat win 94-83 as LeBron erupts for 37.

I promise to write more about other sports later on but this is the most popular sport going on right now. While I am following baseball, the NHL playoffs (Go Bruins) and the French Open this seemed to be the most pressing sports story.  Until next time, thanks for reading and please don't hesitate to comment or send questions my way.
